Phosphorus Deactivation on Co-based Catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch

چکیده
Abstract The effect of phosphorus on a cobalt-based catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS) has been investigated. Phosphorus is an impurity present in biomass and, this work, its deposition the during to liquid (BTL) operation, based gasification and FTS, mimicked. For purpose, four different cobalt-manganese-rhenium catalysts supported alumina were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation with loadings. results showed that below 800 ppm phosphorus, performance was not significantly affected, possibly because interaction mainly support. However, above threshold, noticeable decrease intrinsic activity. reduced can be attributed physical blocking cobalt sites. But, all poisoned catalysts, product distribution affected shifted towards less valuable products as methane light paraffins. electronegativity might cause effect, effective H 2 /CO ratio surface may increased due weakened metal-CO bonding consequently, selectivity hydrogenated increased.

Deactivation of commercially relevant cobalt catalysts for Low Temperature Fischer-Tropsch (LTFT) synthesis is discussed with a focus on the two main long-term deactivation mechanisms proposed: Carbon deposits covering the catalytic surface and re-oxidation of the cobalt metal. There is a great variety in commercial, demonstration or pilot LTFT operations in terms of reactor systems employed, c...

The adsorption properties of CO and H2 on iron-based catalyst with addition of Zr and Ni were investigated using temperature programmed desorption process. It was found that on the carburized iron-based catalysts, molecular state and dissociative state CO existed together. The addition of Zr was preferential for the molecular state adsorption of CO on iron-based catalyst and the presence of Ni ...

متن کاملDeactivation Behavior of Carbon Nanotubes Supported Cobalt Catalysts in Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis
The effects of electronic properties of inner and outer surfaces of Carbon Nano Tubes (CNTs) on the deactivation of cobalt Fischer-Tropsch (FT) catalysts were studied. The comparative characterization of the fresh and used catalysts by TEM, XRD, TPR, BET and H2 chemisorption showed that cobalt re-oxidation, cobalt-support interactions and sintering are the main sources o...
